May 6th Spring Picnic & Bar-B-Q
See more photos of our picnic here!

WOW! What a great picnic we had Saturday! And weren’t we blessed
with phenomenal weather, judging by Sunday’s return of thunderstorms?

I’m guessing we had over 100 people attend, with children and guests...
and we all enjoyed lots of great food and fellowship. I took some photos
which I hope to have displayed at our web site soon.

Let me thank some folks who were instrumental in making this event happen.
First, and foremost, there was Ruthie Leeb, Debbie Helwig and Rina Serbechi,
who coordinated the plans, food and reservations respectively. I can’t believe
I didn’t thank them properly, publicly, at picnic announcements. Then there
were the men who got together early to slow-cook those wonderful Bar-B-Q
Chickens... Rudy Kagerer, Sullins Benson, Terry Cavan, Larry Morris, Don
Pickering and yours truly. Plus those special folks who came early and helped
set up our picnic at the pavilion, especially Clara Wilbanks, who also donated
plates, cups, napkins, utensils, and tablecloths. Many thanks to all of them!

I also want to thank Buck’s Pizza, On The Border, Buffalo’s Southwest Café,
The Ice Cream Club and Cookies & Creamery for donating our door prizes.

We took in $442 for the picnic and, after expenses, netted about $100 for our
Kingswood treasury account. Plus, three more members paid dues - $25 each.
So, we had a very nice time and it didn’t cost our treasury a penny to hold it.
By the way, I also have someone’s silver salad bowl, if you’re missing it.

I will be writing you again in a few weeks about a meeting I’d like to arrange
for the purpose of assigning committees to plan and promote other programs
(planting at our entrances, holiday decorating and caroling, a welcome
committee to greet new neighbors, annual gatherings like this picnic, etc.)
as well as re-commit or assign Street Captains for the future. If you have
any other suggestions, please feel free to send them to me.

Have a great week... and thanks to all of you who attended our picnic!
